Student Counselling and Development (SCD)

SCD is a free confidential service to all registered students. They provide individual counselling to students with emotional, psychological, academic or personal development needs.

Please note sessions are by appointment only with limited drop-in availability in an emergency.

UCC Campus Watch

UCC Niteline

Niteline is a telephone listening service for students in UCC. Niteline is a free phone, non- judgemental, non-directive and confidential telephone listening service.  It is run by trained UCC students for UCC students who need somebody to talk to.

The Student Health Department is not operating a walk-in service during COVID. For all appointment requests call us on 021 490 2311 to arrange a consultation. Many problems can be managed following a telephone consultation. Some problems may require a video-consultation using Microsoft Teams. If an on-site face to face consultation is required you will be given a time to attend the centre.

UCC Welfare Officer

The SU Welfare Officer is a member of the Students' Union who helps tackle all non-academic issues affecting student experience and wellbeing, including mental health, accommodation, exam stress, financial stress or sexual health.

UCC Employee Assistance Programme

UCC's Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is provided by SPECTRUM.LIFE.  This is a confidential counselling service, providing support to employees, in addition to their spouse, civil partner or dependant, where the family member can be described as a person over the age of 18 and residing in the family home.

It is available 24/7, 365 days a year covering numerous topics such as; counselling, infertility & pregnancy loss, elder care support, parent coaching, international employee support, legal information, financial information and more.

Survivors/Victims of rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse will often want to talk to someone who can provide a specialist service tailored to their needs and circumstances. For that reason there are national and some local organisations who provide support based on specific experience of violence or abuse, as well as on identity characteristics such as gender identity, sexuality or cultural background.

We advise that you ask for the station member who is trained in dealing with reports of sexual harassment and violence, if you are contacting a Garda station to report a case of that nature.

Cork Sexual Violence Centre

The Sexual Violence Centre is involved in a range of activities. Its most important work is the direct provision of services to the survivors of rape, sexual assault and child sexual abuse. The services are confidential, free of charge, and provided by highly experienced professional staff.

Cork Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU)

They provide specialist care for women and men aged fourteen years and over who have recently been sexually assaulted or raped. The specialist team of SATU staff provide easily accessible, holistic services which address the medical, psychological and emotional needs and appropriate follow up care for victims of sexual crime, in a supportive, sensitive manner.

Mná Feasa Cork

MOVE Ireland

MOVE – Men Overcoming Violence works in the area of domestic violence, with a primary aim of supporting the safety and wellbeing of women and their children who are experiencing, or have experienced violence/abuse in an intimate relationship.

MOVE does this by facilitating men in a weekly group process that involves them taking responsibility for their violence and changing their attitude and behaviour. MOVE also provides all female partners/ex-partners of the men on the MOVE programmes information, support and safety planning during and after their partners/ex-partners attendance on the programme.

One in Four
